For Jared Dunscombe Foundation walkers

Take on the same trek Jared did.

Kokoda Courage and The Jared Dunscombe Foundation are united by shared values and complementary strengths — and this trek gives JDF's community the chance to walk the Track that shaped Jared's own legacy.

Kokoda Courage contributes deep operational expertise on the Kokoda Track, historical interpretation capability and structured leadership frameworks. Working in partnership, The Jared Dunscombe Foundation can further strengthen its mission by extending its reach, deepening community engagement and creating meaningful pathways that connect the spirit of service with tangible support for veterans and their families.

For JDF's walkers, family and supporters, this is more than a fundraising challenge — it's the opportunity to retrace the ground Jared himself walked, honouring his legacy through Kokoda while delivering scalable, values-driven programs with meaningful community outcomes.

Together, the partnership creates an end-to-end leadership pathway enabling Jared Dunscombe Foundation walkers to follow in Jared's footsteps and those who served before him — embedding Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice through lived experience.

Walk together. Grow together.

A shared journey through history, challenge and connection — supported from preparation through to completion.

“In 2023 I got to take part in trekking Kokoda under the leadership of Pete Condon and Kokoda Courage. A lifetime experience, that was made even more memorable by the organisation, communication and education provided by Pete and his awesome team. Nothing was left to chance in ensuring the trip was accommodating for everyone within our party, and there were many differing needs from the group. I would recommend Kokoda Courage for your life changing trip to Kokoda.”

10 days, 7 on the Track

10 days and 9 nights including travel time, with 7 days and 8 nights walking the Kokoda Track itself — covering approximately 12–19 kilometres of hiking per day.

The journey combines detailed historical stops and Kokoda stories, village cultural experiences, structured pre-trek training, experienced Australian guides and full emergency and expedition support throughout.

Participant outcomes

Resilience is built in the moments that test us.

The terrain, history and cultural setting combine to build mental toughness, emotional strength and physical resilience — the kind that carries into everyday life, not just a development environment that cannot be replicated in a classroom.

Mental toughness & historical perspective

The Kokoda Trek combines physical endurance with the emotional weight of its history.

Walking in the footsteps of Australian heroes who fought in the Second World War fosters perspective, gratitude and mental strength — building a mindset to embrace adversity and persevere.

Historic Kokoda campaign image

History becomes real.

The story of Kokoda is experienced on the ground, where courage and sacrifice are understood through place.

Emotional strength under pressure

Demanding conditions create opportunities to stay level-headed under pressure, support others through fatigue and keep going when things get hard.

The result is stronger resilience and emotional intelligence — the kind that helps in everyday life, long after the trek ends.

Cultural immersion & emotional strength

Engagement with local communities fosters empathy, adaptability and a broader worldview.

Participants strengthen self-awareness, appreciate different perspectives and develop the emotional skills to face everyday challenges with confidence and compassion.

Physical & mental resilience

The trek requires strength, perseverance and adaptation under pressure. By facing those challenges, participants build confidence and practical problem-solving skills that hold up in everyday life.
